All the bridges (man) in Chicago are built to open.
But seeing them open is something not many get to witness.
We stepped out of Union Station to see traffic being stopped
so the bridges could open.
Why?
To let the tall ships go up the river to be housed for the winter.

It opens up in the middle using counter weights
Now the sailing ships can get through.
Further down the river, more bridges open.
We are thrilled we got to see a bridge open.
