FAVORITE STORES

Some of Sister C.'s favorite stores on the Mag Mile.

American Girl Doll Store

Disney Store is always a favorite for both of us.

Lego Store.
However, sad but true,
no new Christmas Village Pieces this year.
(They must have known we didn't have room to order it, put it together,
and get it home with us next July.)

. * . * . DOWNTOWN CHICAGO . * . * .

Sister Christensen and I rode the Metra to downtown Chicago.
We ended up at Union Station and headed straight to
Magnificent (Mag) Mile to shop.

Every time we go downtown there are always lots and lots of people,
just like in the above photo.
We love being downtown, lots of people, good food and
plenty of fun and sights.

FOUNTAIN OF FACES

Millennium Park in Chicago offers several tourist attractions.
We saw this fountain the day we went to the Art Museum.
The faces are slow motion movies that blink and move very slightly
as water cascades down all sides.  The faces look toward each other
over a splash park, occasionally spitting water into the park.
Fascinating!

As we seldom go to down town Chicago, it is great that the attractions are so close together.
This fountain, the bean, the old library, several statues, gardens, the amphitheater,
and many more attractions are located in Millennium Park next to the Art Museum.

DOWNTOWN CHICAGO........

Two apartment buildings.
Note- the bottom third of the buildings are parking.

The Trump Building reflecting another high rise.

We were awed by the walkway in the air between these buildings.

Buildings reflecting each other across the beautiful Chicago River.

ANOTHER DOWNTOWN CHICAGO VISIT

Another trip on the train downtown.  Very enjoyable.
When we came up out of the subway underground we saw the
Memorial Day Parade.

Note the Crooked Building downtown.
Very beautiful.

I don't know whether it's an apartment building or
office building.
There are hundreds or thousands of
apartment buildings in Chicago

DOWNTOWN CHICAGO ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND.........

.

Here comes the Parade !!!

The Chicago Memorial Day Military Parade

The biggest Parade of it's kind.

********

Other events of the day included
watching
Morris Dancers in Millenium Park.

I have always wanted to see Morris Bell Dancers.
Notice the leather leg shields covered with bells.
These dances originated in early days in England.
The "rag" costumes probably originated in Wales.
Dancers from several states showed their talents.

DOWNTOWN CHICAGO HERE WE COME . . . . .

We finally made it to DOWNTOWN CHICAGO.  We took the train in and saw wonderful things.

My brother, who has been in cities all over the world, expressed that Chicago was one of his favorite cities.  I am beginning to understand why.

We visited several sites - which I will blog over the next few days.

Below is Cloud Gate, or more familiarly known as "the bean".  Amazing sculpture.

You can see the whole bean in the background.

Here we are taking a picture of us on the side of the bean -
showing the Chicago skyline.

You can see that not only do you walk around the bean to view the city in it,
but you can walk under it and see yourself.

Under the bean, looking up.  In the center are two people (among others) in black coats.  That would be us.

Standing at the wall of the inside of the bean - a selfie.
