THE CORPSE FLOWER

Once again we made a trip to the Botanical Gardens to see
the greenhouses.  Sister Christensen was anxious for
a view of the Corpse Flower.



The corpse flower draws it's name from how it smells
when it blooms - roadkill. 
The berries are the fruit or seed of the corpse flower.






The corpse flower blooms one day in five years. 
It bloomed last Fall in Chicago
drawing hundreds of hopeful viewers. 
We had to settle for a video of the bloom.
