The Planting Begins

Our cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower are coming up nicely.  We have
had nice cool weather, which these types of plants love.

The volunteers are planting carrot seeds.  First a small hole is made,
about 1/2 inch deep, then one carrot seed is placed in the hole and
covered up.  The weed cloth in this box has holes already marked
to show where to plant.  This box will produce over 1100 carrots.
We will be planting three boxes this spring and more later on.

We had many volunteers helping plant the carrots today,
Tuesday, April 29, 2014.

 The Missionary Garden

We decided to reserve one box to use as a "demo garden".
The reason for this was to show the volunteers and visitors different types
of plants to grow in the boxes.
Already in the box are onions and lettuce is now being planted.
