Preparing Soil and Planting Carrots

A cement mixer is used to mix the soil and additives
for Greenhouse planting.

Once the soil is mixed, volunteers transport
the loaded pots into the Greenhouse

The field is being tilled for planting of corn

On Saturday May 3rd, we planted two grow boxes with carrots.
Above is the grid used to mark and measure where the seeds are
to be placed in the box.  One seed is placed in each hole;
approximately 1100 carrot seeds are planted in each box.

Volunteers planting carrots, which involves being on
knees and crawling along the box.

 Following the planting, screened soil is
shaken over the box to lightly cover the seeds.
